Strategies and Tactics: Combined Arms

The idea of combined arms is taking differing weapon platforms, such as infantry and tanks, to support each other to minimize the inherent weaknesses of each while maximizing the strengths of both.  These different arms are combined to allow them to support one another.  In this article, I will go over some of my basic thoughts on how to make use of combined arms in table top war gaming.  Once again, I will attempt to keep this Strategies and Tactics article fairly system agnostic, but I will make references to games that I am familiar with (Dust, Bolt Action, Deadzone, even D&D).

Strategies and Tactics: Unit Support

In this new article series I want to go over some basic war gaming tactics that I found to be generally useful regardless of the system being used.  Obviously, rules matter but the few miniatures war/skirmish games I have played all attempt to capture some aspect of two (or more) forces in conflict.  From a one-on-one tactical role-playing game to the company sized military battles I gamed in, these are some items I consider in trying to achieve victory.  Some of these tactics are very, very basic and most gamers will be well aware of them, but I want to cover them just to be as thorough as I can.
