Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Hero The Priest

Lieutenant David Bonner is one of more odd heroes of Dust Battlefield.  On the one hand, he is built to act as a solo saboteur, on the other hand, he can work with other Soldier 2 (S2) squads.  Additionally, his best weapon is Close Combat and a template.

This article will go over what the Priest can do.  It will also give players thinking about fielding him some ideas of how to field him.  Finally, I will give my thoughts and opinion on just how effective I think this hero is compared to other units in the Allies and in Dust Battlefield as a whole.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment:Allies BBQ Squad and Hell Boys

I’m sort of breaking my own unit assessment rules talking about two units that don’t come in the same box or are pretty much exactly the same across the blocs.  However, the differences between the Allied Ranger Assault Squad a.k.a BBQ Squad and the Allied Ranger Attack Squad a.k.a. Hell Boys are extremely close in role and weapon construction that it would be hard to talk about one without comparing it to the other.  In this article I will go over the stats, skills, and weapons for each squad detailing what makes each unit different from the other.  I will also spend some time talking about the Allied Ranger Platoon that these units can support and benefit from.  I also want to cover all the Allies heroes that can join either the BBQ Squad or the Hell Boys.  Finally, I will end the article with my opinions about each unit.

Dust Battlefield 150 Point Battle Report Allies vs. Axis

This battle report is more like our standard games at Olympic Cards and Comics in Lacy Washington, U.S.A.  It was at our gaming group’s standard of 150 points.  However, once again it was a custom mission scenario.   I was playing the Allies this time around.  This was due to me painting another Allies player’s stuff and not wanting to lug several boxes of models to the gaming store in addition to my ever expanding terrain.

Dust Battlefield 75 Point Allies vs. Axis Demo Battle Report

Once again we had a new player show up to our gaming group at Olympic Cards and Comics in Lacy, Washington, U.S.A.   However, unlike last week I was not the one that played the new player.  I wanted to both show off my newly painted terrain (which still needs a lot work) and practice on writing up battle reports for Dust Battlefield since I wasn’t super happy with last weeks.  In today’s game it was the Allies versus the Axis in a 75 point game with many units based out of the Starter Boxes.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Heavy Command/Support Walker “Mobile HQ”, “Long Tom II”, and “Skysweeper”

The “heavy” command and support walkers are built on top of the largest and heaviest of the Allied designs.  Yet they are some of the Allies lightest classed walkers at Vehicle 3 (V3).  Each is highly varied in its purpose.  The Mobile HQ serves as a moving command center to more effectively issue orders and alert friendly units to possible air attacks.  The Long Tom II features one of the farthest reach artillery weapons in Dust Battlefield.  Finally, the Skysweeper threatens to down any aircraft foolish enough to get near.  This article with cover these units, and I will give my opinions about them.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Hero Johnny One-Eye

John Coviello has a couple of nicknames including “Johnny One-Eye” and “Crazy Coviello.”   He is one of the many Soldier 2 heroes avaible to the Allies.  He has only recently been replaced as the most affordable Hero Officer the Allies have with Little Mack.  In this article I will review the stats, skills, and weapons of Johnny One-Eye.  Additionally, I will give some advice to strategy and tactics for this tough-as-nails ranger hero.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Gunners and Bot Hunters

For me the Gunners are the proto-typical Allies unit for Dust.  I would like to think they are the most numerous unit the Allied Special Operations Command (ASOCOM) has.  I would also like to think that they are intended as the Jack-of-all-Trades unit for this bloc.  In many respects they in fact are.  It is unfortunate that I don’t value this unit very high.  Opposed to the Bot Hunters, a unit that sadly only existed as a upgrade in Dust Warfare, is one of the few Allied Soldier 2 (S2) units that I feel hasn’t been replaced by a Marine squad.  In this article I will go over the stats that make up these units and talk about their role and some tactics.  I will also make comparisons between them and other S2 Ranger and Marine choices as well as their equivalents found in other blocs.  Finally, I will give my opinions on the different heroes that can be added to these squads and how useful I think they are.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies P-48 Pelican “Stormstrike” and “Thunderstrike”

The Allies most advanced fighter aircraft the P-48 Pelican allows this bloc to maintain air superiority.  It is armed with the best air-to-air guns and as an Aircraft 2 (A2) is should be able to weather an attack from enemy flyers.  But how does it stack up otherwise?  In this article I will discuss some of the stats of this unit as well as my opinions to its usefulness.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Medium Combat Walkers “Hotdog”, “Mickey”, “Pounder”, and “Steel Rain”

The M3 series of walker (funny, I remember them as M2)  are suppose to the the main stay of the Allies armor.  They are fast, reasonably armored at Vehicle 4 (V4), and armed with a variety of weapons and more machine guns that walkers of similar class.  In this article I will review 4 of the version of this walker and discuss my thoughts on each.

Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: Allies Grim Reapers

The Allies Heavy Ranger Attack Squad boast some the highest amount of firepower in all of Dust Battlefield.  They are fully capable of rolling up to 36 dice for a single attack.  That is not all.  They are also one of the fastest Soldier squads in Dust Battlefield as well.  Yet, I am not super impressed by them.  They are good unit, but their numbers on paper and their use in games have been slightly different things.  In this article I will talk about the Allies Grim Reapers and give my admittedly bias opinions about them.
