Dust Battlefield Unit Assessment: SSU Super Heavy Tank “Lavrentiy Beria” and “Karl Marx”

Since the early days of the war, the Soviets have been known for their outstanding tank designs.  Following the same linage of the T-34 and more directly IS-2, the IS-48 is a monument to Soviet utilitarian engineering and design.  These tanks are still a match against the more advanced super heavy walkers of the Allies and Axis.

In this article I will review the stats and skills, roles and tactics, the platoon, and my thoughts and opinions on the Lavrentiy Beria as well as the Karl Marx.

Showdown: Dust Warfare’s Super Weapons

In the setting of Dust, each of the three bloc’s (the Allies, the Axis, and the Sino-Soviet Union) all have a super weapon they have developed while studying the effects of the alien mineral known as VK.  The Allies ASOCOM scientists have used their knowledge of this material to develop Phaser technology which while inaccurate and unpredictable, allows their weapons to phase through armor as if it weren’t there at all.  The Axis, on the other hand, have engineered laser tech that fires a powerful beam of  burning light capable of heating metal so much that is can sometimes continue to burn and melt for even more damage.  Falling behind in the technology race is some respects, the SSU have recently developed Tesla weapons which harness the power of electricity which allows to focus on a spot can create a chain lightning effect as the electrical current arcs from one target to the next.  In article, I will go over each Bloc’s super weapon, the units that are equipped with it, and my thoughts about each.  Finally, I will make a comparison of these weapons to each other.

Unit Inspection: SSU “Red Lightning” SSU Tesla Gun Team

This weapon represents the best in SSU miniaturization of the bloc’s signature super weapon, the Tesla Gun.  Unlike either the Allies and the Axis, the SSU has not yet perfected this technology to be small enough to be carried by normal soldiers.  It is rumored that Soviet scientists have managed an experiential Tesla Gun small enough to be carried by the Steel Guard in their hulking battle suits however.  Until then, the Red Lighting gun Team represents the most agile revision of technology.

Unit Inspection: SSU IS-48 Super Heavy Tank

The SSU may not have the same technological advances of either the Allies or the Axis blocs, especially when manufacturing huge, heavy armored vehicles.  They have not perfected walkers to bear the required weight of such powerful weapons of war.  Instead, the red bloc continues to produce tried and true tracked vehicles such as the IS-48 Super Heavy Tank.  What it lacks in mobility, it makes up for in durability and firepower.
